Before you can use Jacuba Spell to check your spelling you need to activate it, if you have added Jacuba Spell to your website then visitors to your site can automatically enjoy the advantages of Jacuba Spell, if you have added Jacuba Spell to your browser you will need to click on the "Jacuba Spell" button you added to your browser to convert every text area in a webpage into an editor (you will need to click the "Jacuba Spell" button on each visit to a webpage). If you want to switch off Jacuba Spell just click on "Jacuba Spell" again.
Once activated Jacuba Spell checks your spelling as you type, it will offer you a number of alternative spellings and has a built in Dictionary so you can find the meaning of words.
Words are checked for spelling as you type. Identified misspellings are underlined with a red squiggle. There are two ways of correcting these:
The spelling window initially displays the incorrectly spelt word. The word can be corrected by editing the word directly or by selecting from any available suggestions. You can check the spelling of a correction you have typed by pressing the Enter key or by clicking on the spelling button on the right of your word. Once you are satisfied with your correction click on the replace button to replace the incorrect word.
If you do not wish to replace the word you can:
Your personal dictionary is available by clicking on the "My Words" link in the editor toolbar. This opens a window which allows you to add and remove words from your personal dictionary.
Your personal dictionary is stored in a cookie shared with the Jacuba Spell webserver. This means that they are stored by your browser and will be available to you on any website on which you use Jacuba Spell. However, your personal dictionary will not be available from other browsers, and if you clear your browser's cookies, your personal dictionary will be lost.
